Professor Steven Sacks

Professor Steven Sacks is the Director of the MRC Centre for Transplantation and Head of Department of Nephrology & Transplantation at King’s College London. A renal physician with a PhD from the Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, his research interests are the biology of complement and renal disease, with particular regard to the regulation of the adaptive immune response by the innate immune system and translation to biomarker analysis, diagnostic tools and treatment. His laboratory focuses on transplantation, immune complex nephritis and antimicrobial defence. Steven also has an interest in research ethics and he is a member of the grant assessment panels for the Wellcome Trust and Medical Research Council. Steven is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences
